José Luis Samaniego Leyva

Distinguished economist and international negotiator in environmental and sustainable development matters. He was born on March 19, 1956, in Mexico and has devoted his professional career to promoting policies and actions that seek a balance between economic growth and environmental conservation.

Currently, he serves as the Executive Director of the Colombia and Mexico offices of the Board of Directors of the World Resources Institute (WRI), a global organization dedicated to research and development of sustainable solutions for environmental challenges. His expertise and leadership have been instrumental in implementing high-impact projects in the region, strengthening international cooperation, and promoting sustainable development in Latin America and the Caribbean.
